Incoming Interim Superintendent shares goals for 2009-2010
Looking ahead . . . Building on progress
I am honored to have the opportunity to introduce myself to the Shanghai American School community as the incoming Interim SAS Superintendent for the 2009 – 2010 school year. My wife, Mary, and I are excited about the opportunity to work with the SAS community to effect a smooth transition to the permanent head of school who is expected to begin work at SAS with the 2010 – 2011 school year. My role as Interim Superintendent will not be as a change agent, but rather one of solidifying the progress that the school has made while ensuring that the new permanent superintendent will be able to hit the ground running when he arrives. Annual Fund begins ‘Edge for Excellence’If you are a regular reader of ParentTalk you already know that, since the beginning of November, we have been introducing our school’s first Annual Fund campaign, Edge for Excellence, in each edition. Two of the introductory stories that have appeared in ParentTalk – an overview of the campaign (download ) and a question-and-answer column with Development Committee Chair Stephanie Kao ( download ).
Our first Annual Fund campaign will run during the months of December and January (it will end on February 6, 2009). During that time we have a fundraising goal of U.S.$150,000 that, when we reach it, will be matched by a U.S.$150,000 foundation grant. Read more »
